Happy Earth Day

April 22 marks Earth Day -- a day dedicated to environmental support and protection. A day in which we all come together to help make the planet a better place to inhabit, even if just for the day. There's no better day than today to show your kiddos how to love and appreciate Mother Earth. Here are just a few ideas to get started...

  • Take a Gander -- Hop outside at breakfast, lunch and dinner to see the world around you. What do you hear? What do you see? What do you smell? Where are the leaves? The sun? What animals do you see? Have your kids talk about what they see, or draw it out on paper, and compare the differences.
  • Family Challenge -- Set a goal to see who can use the least amount of trash this week. The winner gets a big prize!
  • Recreate the World -- A yummy exercise devised of homemade rice krispie bars! Mold rice krispie bars into a globe and use green and blue sugar or frosting to draw in the details.
