Eggstra-Fun Easter Activities for the Kiddos

By Jen Formanek, Macaroni Kid Publisher April 1, 2018

Happy Easter! We’re in full Easter prep mode – from treats to brunch baking and putting together an activity plan for all the kiddos so they’re not just sitting around eating candy. Here are a few ideas we have planned (thanks to Pinterest!) today.

  1. Toilet Paper Easter Bunny Craft – We’ve been saving toilet paper and paper towel rolls for this one. Don’t need much for this craft. Just construction paper, paint and brushes, markers or crayons. We decided against paint and went with markers. The kiddos can trace the bunny shapes and draw their favorite bunny scene!
  2. Dye Easter Eggs with Whipped Cream – This year, we’re swapping out the dye and smelly vinegar for shaving cream and food coloring to create swirly Easter eggs. All you need is a muffin tin or cookie sheet, whipped cream, food coloring and eggs. Put the whipped cream inside the muffin tin (or on the cookie sheet in a thick layer), adding in several drops of food coloring to each. Swirl the eggs until completely covered, and voila!
  3. Afternoon Egg Hunt – The kids are going to have a blast hunting for hidden Easter eggs throughout the yard. It will be fun to see how our toddler does with this, as even at 2 years old, she can be quite competitive. Each child will be given an egg carton instead of a basket so there’s fair distribution of eggs between everyone. Eggs will be filled with a mix of candy and non-candy items. Non-candy items include stickers, temporary tattoos, goldfish crackers, erasers, trail mix, change, tiny farm animals, light-up rings, finger puppets and bouncy balls.
