I've been getting the urge to do some spring cleaning, but I've been waiting for a good open-the-windows kind of day to get me started. In the meantime, I put together a few of the tips I've picked up here and there to make for an easier cleaning experience.
- Try using a mix of salt and soda water to clean the fridge. I got this little tidbit from HGTV. The bubbles from the soda water, combined with the abrasive texture of the salt make for one tough cleaner.
- If you have a little piece of scrap carpeting around, use it to clean the window screens. It will make for a powerful brush and get those screens sparkly clean!
- Work from top to bottom to get all the dust and debris to collect on the floor. It may sound so simple, but I bet you've caught yourself watching the dust fall from the ceiling fan onto your newly mopped floor.
- Use an old dryer sheet to clean your shower doors. Once they're prettied up, use a tablespoon of lemon oil to cause water to bead up and roll off. Follow-up twice a month.
- For a non-toxic toilet bowl cleaner use Tang. Drop a teaspoon of Tang into the bowl, let it sit for a few minutes, give it a swish and then flush. I'm not sure how this makes me feel about Tang, but I definitely feel more comfortable flushing Tang down the toilet than harsh chemicals.
