Summer at The Works Museum

Summer can be a stressful time for parents, but The Works Museum has you covered with special programs and events to help you beat the heat. From Pre K kiddos to grandparents, The Works Museum is a great place to take the whole family for science and engineering fun. Located just minutes from the Mall of America, they offer an exciting and interactive engineering experience that’s all about hands-on exploration.

Classes in The Workshop

In The Workshop, you become the designer and the engineer. These classes allow kids and grown-ups ages 9-99 to make impressive projects using real tools and materials. Sew a light-up backpack, build an LED sign for your room, create your own stop-motion animation video, and much more. Classes in The Workshop are a great way to spend time with your child, all while learning a new skill! Walk-in classes do not require any registration, while a few longer classes to require you to sign up ahead of time. Class length and price varies.

Open Build Fridays

At Open Build Fridays your littlest engineers (ages 3-5) can build freely with a different toy or material each week. These activities take place in a big kid-free part of the Museum so little ones aren’t overwhelmed or overcrowded. Open Build Fridays are held every Friday morning throughout the summer through August 10, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Cost is included with Museum admission ($8.50 per person).

Pop-Up Engineering

Pop in for Pop-Up Engineering every Wednesday this summer. Each week kids can participate in a different activity that introduces engineering principles in a fun, interactive way. Activities include marble roller coasters, wind turbines, Ozobots, and more! Pop-Up Engineering events are held every Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. through August 8. Cost is included with Museum admission ($8.50 per person).

Friday Fun Days

These one-day camps are great as stand-alone experiences or as an add-on to your child’s week of camp at The Works Museum. In addition to hands-on programming, Friday Fun Days offer museum exploration, outdoor games, and a pizza lunch. Each week features a theme, such as Extreme Cardboard Castles, Wacky Water Works, LEGO City, and more. Fridays through August 31, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (aftercare available as an add-on). $77/child
